Meet Carissa - Mum To Be

Due date?
1st September 2017

Your ideal birth plan?
Natural labour and delivery with my husband present.

Conception story?
After my husband and I married in November 2016, we started trying to conceive on the night of our wedding. After we honeymooned in Thailand for 10 days, we returned home and a fortnight later we found out I was 4 weeks pregnant.

How did you announce your pregnancy?
We did a mini photoshoot and turned one of the photos into a movie poster and shared via social media after we had shared our exciting news in person with family and close friends.

Are you finding out the sex?
Yes! It's a girl.

What are you most excited about?
I'm incredibly excited to hold my daughter for the very first time, to look into her eyes and know that she is my greatest achievement to date.

What are you most nervous about?
Raising a daughter! Before we found out we were having a little girl, I was sure I was pregnant with a boy and I was comforted knowing that my husband would be the most amazing role model to a son. Then when we found out we were having a baby girl, I became incredibly anxious about being a good role model for our daughter. I'm most nervous about teaching her to be a warm hearted, caring individual whilst also nurturing her independence. I want her to be a strong confident woman.

Most interesting advice you've been given so far?
My Mum told me that I needed to start preparing my nipples for breastfeeding by pinching and pulling at them regularly and by letting my husband suckle them. It's safe to say that I have not taken this advice on board, lol!

Any crazy cravings?
Nothing too crazy...I went through a period of wanting nothing but donuts, any kind of donuts!! And early in my pregnancy, I craved peanut butter on Turkish toast!
